Stewardship
My life is devoted to co-laboring with the Lord to see His name be hallowed, His kingdom come and His will be done in the earth as it is in heaven. I firmly believe He is accomplishing this through the eternal revelation of Himself as Jesus Christ and am humbled to have been allowed a stewardship in the unfolding of this great mystery.
The current sphere of my stewardship is centered in Wichita, KS and extends through the Midwestern USA. Below is my personal mandate followed by a brief introduction to the initiatives I am stewarding.
Mandate
The vision the Lord has put before me is to facilitate the emergence of kingdom-communities through the simple apostolic tradition of preaching both the Kingdom of God and matters concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. The expression of this work is four-fold, addressing key aspects of the present state of the Body in an effort to restore fundamental truth, reform erroneous thinking and propagate the organic life of the Body of Christ. My mandate can be summed up in these four imperatives: Equip the Saints, Restore Foundations, Proclaim the Kingdom & Pursue the Finish.
Equipping the Saints
- I firmly believe in the separation between the work of equipping the saints and the building of the church. The former is our work, the latter is Christ’s work. In kingdom-community the dual function of equipping and building occurs, for as the saints are equipped they grow into the materials from which the church can be built together a habitation of God in the Spirit.
- Equipping requires teaching, mentoring, praying for and walking with the saints. It requires living out the message being proclaimed and engaging in life with the saints, caring for them as a nursing mother and exhorting them as a diligent father.
- Equipping also requires that we give attention to doctrine (1 Tim. 4:13), continue steadfastly in the apostles doctrine (Acts 2:42) and admonish those who teach another doctrine (1 Tim. 1:3). Paul warned that the time would come when many would turn away from sound doctrine (2 Tim. 4:3) and he encourages maturity so that we might stand against every wind of doctrine that attempts to deceive (Eph. 4:14). Clearly doctrine is important! But with so many voices and interpretations, how do the people of God know who to trust? Simple: we trust only the Spirit of God and receive those functioning as grace gifts inasmuch as their doctrine, internal character and manner of life is in keeping with the Word.
Restoring Foundations
- There is only one foundation – which is Christ Jesus. Unfortunately centuries of inaccurate and unlawful building have produced the distorted, often grotesque structures that the People of God now accept as normal. These piles of dead men’s bones, held together by the sinew of religious tradition, obscure and veil our precious Chief Cornerstone. It is therefore necessary to dismantle these unlawful structures and reaffirm the One True Foundation which is Christ.
- This process of tearing down and resetting is accomplished through the expression of the apostolic grace gift which has the ability to tear down strongholds and destroy imaginations that have been raised up against the true knowledge of God (2 Cor. 10:3-5). As well, Paul reveals in Eph. 2:20 that the household of God is built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the cornerstone. It is therefore necessary that these grace gifts function so that the strongholds of religious tradition can be destroyed, releasing the people of God so that they might walk in the glory of their inheritance.
- It is also important to address the excess and illegitimacy of some who claim these gifts but have proven to be charlatans, taking advantage of the Body for their own selfish ends. Paul’s writings reveal that true apostles and prophets do not place a requirement of allegiance or finance on the Body, nor do they seek glory from men. Rather their sincere love for the Body is likened to a nursing mother and their desire for maturity is as a father who encourages and exhorts his children. (1 Thess. 2:1-12). I therefore preach a return to the simple foundation of Jesus Christ and Him crucified and the building up of one another rather than the building of institutions.
Proclaiming the Kingdom
- I see the kingdom as the domain over which Christ rules as king. Furthermore, I believe that His kingship is exercised through us individually and corporately. Individually, the kingdom within seeks to dominate every aspect of our earthly existence such that it can be expressed outwardly. Corporately, the kingdom is enlarged and those whose hearts are fully consecrated to Him are built together and move as one man, affecting His rule and reign throughout there surrounding environment.
- The kingdom has structure and order, not according to positional, hierarchal systems of religion, but according to grace. Functionally, the apostolic and prophetic graces are required for accurate foundation and present revelation. God has set in the church first apostles, second prophets and third teachers as gifts to the body for their equipping and care.
- In the kingdom there is a consistency of message and contending for the faith. For there is only one faith which has once for all been delivered to the saints. There is also only one Spirit by whom that faith is being revealed. So then there should also be a consistency, purity and oneness of the teaching, or doctrine, associated with our faith.
Pursuing the Finish
- There is an appointed time for this age to come to a close: concerning which there is much to say, for the enemy has crafted a masterful plan to lengthen his stay of execution and delay the finish indefinitely.
- He has accomplished this by perpetuating the belief that the return of Christ and the coming of His kingdom are fixed events upon which the Body has no influence. That someday in the future, when it suits Him, He will return to take us all to heaven. Until then we hold-on, seeking His assistance to manage our lives and reading our bibles to determine what Jesus would do so that we can live accordingly. Indeed, men are busy building church but God is diligently preparing a Bride for His Son!
- This mentality effectively bankrupts the Body of the glory and power God intended it to walk in and consequently elongates the present age allowing the enemy to continue exercising his reign of sin over the nations. So then what is the accurate mentality that allows us to realize the finish? Recognition that we are charged with the responsibility to order our lives in such a way as to receive His kingdom and glory (1 Thess. 2:12) and to share in His inheritance (Col. 1:9-12). According to Eph. 5 Christ gave Himself for the church that He might cleanse it and present it to Himself without spot or wrinkle. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. We must see that He is returning for a bride that has made herself ready, to whom it has been given to clothe herself in fine linen (Rev. 19: 7-8).
- Through the proper function of each member the Body is perfected, built together, unified, and filled with the presence, power, agency and riches of Our Lord Jesus. Then, through our corporate expression, His kingdom and glory are released signaling the Bride’s readiness. Therefore I preach what Our Lord Jesus taught us to pray: “Your Name be hallowed, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
